Tennessee entrepreneurs with a flair for narrative and film should check out the state’s latest contest. Hosted by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, the "What Makes You an Entrepreneur" video competition is accepting entries through October 31, 2010.
The winner gets $500 in cash and, more importantly, a marketing package for their business worth approximately $2,000.
"Last year, Tennessee made its mark as one of the top participating states for Global Entrepreneurship Week," said Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development commissioner Matt Kisber, "With the second installment of the entrepreneurship video competition, we hope to continue our custom of recognizing entrepreneurs, who are the backbone of our state’s economy."
There are five categories which will each get one finalist: Main Street/downtown; home-based; arts and entertainment; agribusiness and innovation. Only one, however, will win the overall statewide prize.
So if you’ve got a sharp business idea in Tennessee, some entrepreneurial experience and [a] video camera, the prize could be yours. Each video must be under five minutes in length and describe how businesses and entrepreneurs succeed.
More details about the contest are available at Tennessee Open for Business.
