VIDEO: Find Your Niche

Mike Michalowicz started his first business at the age of 24, moving his young family to the only safe place he could afford – a retirement village. With limited resources and no experience, he systematically grew a multi-million dollar technology business, sleeping in conference rooms to avoid hotel costs. After selling his first company, Mike launched a new business the very next day, and in less than three years, sold it to a Fortune 500. With his newest venture, Obsidian Launch, he fosters startup businesses with his “get rich right” approach.

I once heard a talk about raising gremonevnt grants for social ventures. The speaker was talking about how difficult it is to raise funds for a venture falls between non-profit and for-profit, as his venture could produce modest returns, but primarily was for social purposes. Because he was planning to have some return on investment, he wasn’t able to get certain gremonevnt grants. I would be interested to hear about options for raising capital for ventures that are not completely non-profit, but don’t expect IRRs of 30-50%. Ventures that return 0-10% or even some loss, but serve a social cause seem like a great investment for a gremonevnt that is already writing off losses. Thank you.
