I was looking for a gift for my husband but I had no idea what to get him. He kept telling me he didn’t want anything and he didn’t need anything. After looking through his clothes, the kitchen, and talking to his friends, I decided he was right. But I really wanted to do something different—something more exciting than just going out to dinner.
I started thinking of fun things that we could do together, some way that we could spend some creative quality time (it happens to be winter where we live). A friend of mine had told me that she had gotten RockBand II for the Wii and that she loved it.
RockBand II… not your typical Valentine’s Day gift but definitely something that we could do together and I had heard that it was a lot of fun. At $199 it seemed a bit expensive for a “recession-era” gift but then I started adding everything up: you get a guitar, drum kit, and microphone. Not to mention the hundreds of songs available for download. And as the MasterCard commercials tell us: time spent together? Priceless.
I went ahead and splurged.
In the store the girl ringing up my purchase told me that it was tons of fun and that I would love it. The guy behind me in line agreed. I was feeling pretty good about my decision. I hurried home and set it all up. It was simple.
When my husband got home from work I couldn’t wait until Valentine’s Day to show it to him. I brought him down to the basement and we started to play. He started on the drums while I played guitar and then we switched, and switched again. We created our own characters and made up a silly name for our band. It was a blast.
Since I brought home RockBand II for Wii we’ve played it every night. While this may seem like a present for both of us (and it is) isn’t that the point? We’re having a great time together.
This was the best purchase I’ve made in a long time and my husband agrees: RockBand II for the Wii is the best Valentine’s Day present I’ve ever gotten him. So if you’re searching for something different, something that you can both do together no matter how cold or snowy it is outside, something that you can play night after night, check out RockBand: www.rockband.com. The fun you’ll have together is definitely worth the price.
